The General Secretariat for Territorial Coordination is the governing body responsible, under the authority of the head of the State Secretariat for Territorial Policy, for promoting and coordinating the competences attributed to the department regarding territorial policy, both autonomous and local.

In addition, the General Secretariat for Territorial Coordination, under the authority of the holder of the State Secretariat for Territorial Policy, is responsible for the European and international functions of the competences attributed to the department in matters relating to territorial policy, both regional and local.
