Novelty: recognition and compensation of victims for the defense of democracy
The procedure for the recognition and compensation of deceased persons or persons with disabling injuries for their activity in defense and claim of democracy is enabled, in accordance with Royal Decree-Law 6/2026, of March 3.
Applications will be processed according to the procedure provided in Royal Decree 1803/2008, adapted to the new regulation.

Reparation and recognition of victims
Procedure to obtain the Declaration of Recognition and Personal Reparation, provided in article 6 of the Law of 20/2022, of Democratic Memory (LMD).
Granting of nationality
There are two assumptions:
- Acquisition of Spanish nationalityin accordance with the eighth additional provision of the LMD.
- Spanish nationality granted to volunteers of International Brigades
Benefits and indemnities arising from the Spanish War
- Benefits derived from the Spanish War (1936-1939) are the responsibility of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and are addressed to the following groups:
Mutilated ex-combatants
Armed Forces and Institutes of the Republic
