The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, recognized the fundamental role of the Coordination Unit against Violence on Women and the Violence on Women Units of the four Subdelegations of the Government to guarantee the effective exercise of the rights that assist the victims of male violence in Galicia.
The delegate thanked the five leaders for their commitment to the coordination of the different administrations, security forces and the judicial system involved in the protection and care of victims.
Pedro Blanco extended this gratitude to the tasks of training and sensitization to professionals, youth, personnel of the Security and Health Forces, who develop these units throughout the year. Tasks that take different forms: conferences, cultural activities, advertising campaigns and actions on social networks, with the aim of eradicating from society any form of violence against women, supporting groups that help and care for victims and promoting feminist and equality values.
Importance of the local area
During the meeting, the delegate congratulated those responsible for the intense work they do at the municipal level, in direct collaboration with the municipalities, which are the first administration that has contact with a victim of male violence. At this point, the units maintain a close relationship with the Women ' s Care Centres of the various municipalities, participate actively in the Inter-Agency Coordination Tables held in the municipalities and promote and supervise their adherence to the VIOGEN2 System of the Ministry of the Interior.
The delegate highlighted the role of the Units in the substantial increase of municipalities adhered to this system in Galicia. Currently, 68 municipalities with local police are participating in VIOGEN2, 33% more in just two years. With the aim of increasing this participation, the meeting explained the possibility that it is analyzing in which several municipalities join to reach the minimum number of agents required in the system.
