Murcia, February 7, 2024. Adif High Speed has culminated a new milestone in the development of the works of the railway integration project in Murcia, with the completion of the screens of the future underground section between the Carmen station and Nonduermas.
The last batache (section of screens, with 4 m of length 20 m of depth) has been executed today in the Nonduermas sector, after the completion in January of the screens in the Barriomar sector.
In total, 10,415 m of screens of the structures between the new station of Murcia del Carmen and Nonduermas have been executed. Once this phase of the works has been completed, the areas affected by the works can be progressively liberated to deal with the urban replacement operations. The execution of this complex action has involved the involvement of almost 300 professionals and the provision of four blasting equipment and three excavation equipment.
To this advance in the development of the works, are added others such as the execution of 60,700 m2 of the upper slab of the future integrated stretch (of a total of 66,167 m2) and of 57,677 m2 of the lower slab of the tunnel, of the 75,440 m2 foreseen. To date, 552,900 m3 of land has also been excavated, with a volume of 645,700 m3.
83% of the performance in the city, completed
Currently, 83% of the action in the city of this essential infrastructure for the capital and the Region of Murcia is executed, framed in the high-speed railway connection between Murcia and Almería and giving continuity to the Mediterranean Corridor in its coastal branch.
With its implementation, the citizens will have a state-of-the-art and sustainable railway line, which will help consolidate the railway as a means of transport of reference, socially and economically dynamizing a strategic area in the southeast of the peninsular. With the new station of Murcia del Carmen, greater urban integration and urban cohesion will be favored.
The structure of the Carmen station, ready
The advances of this emblematic action take place in the structure of the Carmen station -practically finished -, which will occupy an area of 4,400 m2.
On the lower floor, the platforms have been executed and the track assembly is advanced with specialized machinery, such as rail trains. Of the 13.4 km of new track, 6.1 km correspond to the 8 tracks of the station, 5 of standard width (3.1 km) and 3 of mixed width (3 km), which will serve both high-speed and Local and Regional circulations. In the railway corridor, 7.3 km will be mounted, which correspond to a track of standard width and another of mixed width.
These actions are promoted by the Society Murcia High Speed, integrated the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Adif and Adif AV, the Government of the Region of Murcia and the City of Murcia.
