The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, visited this Friday the Secondary Education Institute (IES) ‘Rusadir’ to know first-hand the Day of Coexistence that has been developed, in which the fifth centenary of the first circumnavigation around the planet starring Fernando de Magallanes and Juan Sebastián Elcano between 1519 and 1522 has been commemorated.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, who was accompanied by the Provincial Director of the Social Institute of the Navy, Pedro Pajares, and the Director General of Intercultural Relations of the Autonomous City, Rafael Robles, -both have been teachers of this center- was able to visit, accompanied by the management team of the Institute, the different activities that have been developed.
After two years of parentheses forced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the IES ‘Rusadir’ wanted this year to reorganize a new Day of Coexistence, on this occasion, due to the gesture of the Spanish seafarers. This is one of the main initiatives planned within the Annual Plan for the Improvement of Coexistence, which in turn is part of the General Programming.
The Delegate has been able to see the different activities and the involvement of the students in them, while exchanging impressions with the faculty.
The objective of the project is none other than to improve the climate of relations of the educational community of the institute. But, in addition, thanks to this day, interdepartmental work and learning by projects are carried out, with which the students are motivated and the family of the students is involved.
The day of Friday has served to reflect on this singular fact, the historical, social, economic and cultural context in which it occurred.
Based on this gesture of Magellan and Elcano, the center has devised multiple didactic activities in which, in a transversal way, they stimulate the values of solidarity, tolerance, diversity and responsibility of the students.
At the same time, ‘Rusadir’ deepens with this project in the universal values and the critical spirit among the students, since all the actions pursue the development of those skills that go beyond the strictly playful and the mere acquisition of knowledge, since they allow the achievement of the key competences in different areas.
