- The objective of the works is to improve road safety, functionality and fluidity of traffic between kilometers 37.2 and 43.5 of the A-1.
- The works will include four new structures: an upper pass, a lower pass, a walkway and a transversal drainage work.
- The feasibility to enable BUS -VAO lanes and/or zero emission vehicles on the A-1 will be analyzed.
- In this initial phase, the drawing and construction project is listed for 3 million euros.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 3,019 million euros (including VAT) for the contract of services for the drafting of the project of layout and construction for the improvement of road safety and functionality of the A-1 motorway between San Agustín de Guadalix (km 37.2) and the variant of El Molar (km 43.5). The tender announcement has been published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The proposed actions, with an estimated budget of 63 million euros (VAT included), aim to improve the functionality and fluidity of traffic in this stretch of 6.3 km, which in turn will mean an improvement in the safety and comfort conditions of road users.
The works will be divided into two sections. Thus, between the kilometres 37.2 and 40.2, the following actions will be carried out:
- Modification of the existing route to improve visibility and provide this section with better safety and comfort.
- Execution of a third lane by direction and unidirectional complementary tracks of a single lane on the margins of the motorway, up to km 38.5 on the right road and up to km 38.9 on the left road.
- Elimination of direct access from the motorway to private properties by replacing them with access from the complementary side roads.
On the other hand, between the kilometres 40.2 and 43.5, the performances will be as follows:
- Extension to third lane on the trunk of the motorway.
- Implementation of the following structures:
o Upper pass at km 40.83 of 2 vanes, with a length of 50 meters and width of 12.
o Lower pass at km 39.38, with a length of 28.80 meters and width of 11.50.
o Walkway at km 37.8 of metal lattice with 3 holes and a length of 47.50 meters and width of 2.50.
o Transverse drainage work at km 39.
In addition, the need and feasibility will be analyzed, promoting where appropriate the necessary actions to provide the road with reserved or preferential use for collective public transport and for high-occupancy vehicles (BUS-VAO) or zero emissions.
