Renfe issued around 1,700 free Media Distancia subscriptions in La Rioja in the second quarter of the year, to travel from May 1 to August 31.
Since last August it is already possible to purchase the free subscriptions for the last quarter of 2024, valid for trips between September 1 and December 31. These titles can be acquired at any time throughout the four-month period.
To speed up the purchase of subscriptions and avoid unnecessary waits, it is advisable to carry it out through the Renfe Local Area app or, in the case of Media Distancia and Avant subscriptions, through the web www.renfe.com. The customer must be registered in advance.
These multi-trip titles are free, but it is necessary to deposit a deposit, of 10 euros for Neighbourhoods and 20 euros for Medium Distance, which will be returned to the traveler if he makes 16 or more trips in the four-month period. The return will be automatic if it has been paid by card.
In addition, it is possible to purchase recurring subscriptions for children under 14 years of age without ID. In this case, their parents or guardians must do so, up to a maximum of four children’s subscriptions.
Promotion of the good use of fertilizers
Renfe continues with the initiatives to avoid the irregular use of subscriptions in the services of Media Distancia and in the Avant (medium distance in high speed). Thus, users cannot formalize trips for two or more consecutive trains in the same sense when between two formalizations the departure time of origin of the first and that of the second is less than three times the travel time.
Likewise, users who are not going to use the reserved space with the subscriptions must cancel it with a minimum of 60 minutes in advance. In the case of Avant titles, if it is not canceled in time and form on three occasions its holders will lose the right to acquire a new 50% bonus during the following 90 days. In the case of Media Distancia titles, if it is not canceled in time and form on three occasions, the right to acquire another subscription will be lost during the next 30 days and, in addition, the current subscription will be canceled.
Renfe will send the traveler, on the occasion of the first two cancellations not made with the minimum required advance, two communications to the contact provided and will be warned of the possible consequences.
