The Council of Ministers approved at its meeting today the reinforcement of services 016, 028, the Service of Care and Protection for Victims of Violence against Women (Atenpro) and the Service of devices for monitoring by telematic means the prohibitions of approximation imposed on matters of gender violence and sexual violence (Cometa Room), on the occasion of the summer period.
Since the number of violent incidents and hate crimes suffered by people belonging to the LGTBI+ community is increasing in celebrations and summer holidays, such as Pride, the LGTBI 028 Service will be strengthened, which is provided through three channels: telephone (telephone 028), email (028-onlineigualdad.gob.es) or online chat (https://www.igualdad.gob.es/chat028/).
During the summer period of last year, specifically from June 17 to September 22, 2024, 4,431 attentions were made, of which 3,925 were made by telephone, 382 by chat and 124 by email. The volume of attentions in this period represents a third (33.3%) of the 11,779 carried out throughout 2024.
On the other hand, on designated dates, such as August 15, a day in which numerous local festivities take place throughout the national territory, both in service 016, and in Atenpro and in the Cometa Room, the templates will be adjusted, if necessary, in anticipation of an increase in calls and incidents due to the concentration of people and the departures related to the municipal festivities.
In 2024, service 016 served in June, July and August a total of 32,588 queries, of which 28,592 were by telephone, 2,066 by WhatsApp, 307 by email and 1,623 by chat. The volume of attentions in this period represents 26.5% of the 122,820 consultations carried out throughout the last year.
