The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and the Government of Cantabria have agreed to jointly promote the intermodal station of the La Pasiega polygon, following the meeting recently held by the presidents of Adif, Pedro Marco de la Peña, and State Ports, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, with the regional president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga.
In this way, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will cofinance 50%, through Adif, the new railway terminal together with the Cantabrian Government. The regional executive, through the public company Sicán, will promote the tender for the drafting of the project and will be in charge of the construction of the facilities, while ADIF will advance 40% of the amount to accelerate the construction process and will collaborate in the technical aspects. Adif will also provide the necessary technical support for the drafting, processing and construction of the intermodal terminal, as well as in relation to the management of the intermodal terminal.
The Ministry of Transport and the Government of Cantabria will establish a framework of collaboration that channels the economic contributions of the State, complementing those mobilized from the Autonomous Administration and also analyzing the possibility of requesting European aid jointly.
The terms of the agreement will be established in an agreement in which the Government of Cantabria and the central government start working from today, as well as with Adif so that the Cantabrian public company Sicán can tender the drafting of the project as soon as possible. In addition, Adif will facilitate the connection of the terminal to the railway network of general interest.
Drive to Muriedas terminal
In addition, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility assumes through Adif, and under the coordination of State Ports, the full development of the Muriedas railway terminal as a key logistics node for the promotion of the transport of goods to and from the port of Santander.
To this end, work is being carried out within a technical committee with the participation of the Port Authority of Santander in order to carry out the necessary actions to provide maximum capacity to this facility, minimizing the affection on railway circulations and in coherence with the rest of the actions under way on the Santander-Palencia line.
