The last maritime navigation contract prepared by the PP Government, in 2017, had a single lot, ships up to 15 years old and more expensive rates for residents of Melilla than those included in the specifications of the new navigation contract of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
The Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, in an interview given to PlayMeltv, compared the data collected in both sheets and thus dismantled one by one all the criticisms made by the popular in recent weeks.
The Executive of Imbroda has strongly emphasized the fact that the current maritime contract has one lot instead of two and that this may lead to a monopoly in terms of maritime transport.
“The PP Government, in 2017, took out the maritime contract in a single lot and, however, there were several companies operating,” he recalled, while making it clear that taking out the maritime contract in two lots also does not guarantee that different companies will win each of them.
The current contract, which incorporates Motril, “despite the fact that the PP said it was impossible to incorporate it into the maritime contract and that Pedro Sánchez had to arrive to enable that route”, improves many aspects with respect to the last document of the Government of Rajoy.
Thus, Moh has explained that it has been prioritized by newer ships. “You have to remember the boats that the People’s Party did not bring. They sent me pictures even with bedbugs,” he recalled.
“We have prioritized that newer boats come to Melilla because this is what the Melillense citizens are asking for: 15 years with the Government of the People’s Party; 5 years with this Government led by Pedro Sánchez,” he said.
From 25 to 12.5 euros
But in addition, the rates, with the popular ones, were more expensive, he recalled, and has set an example of the standard cabin for 4 people, which with the Popular Party maritime contract amounted to 51.18 euros, and in the new contract is reduced to 50 euros. It is added that, whereas previously the bonus per resident was 50%, now it is 75% so the Melillenses go from paying a little more than 25 euros for this accommodation to 12.5 euros.
As for the vehicle, with the PP boarding the car was 122.43 euros, while now, thanks to the maximum rate set by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, the Melillenses pay 60 euros for their car.
In addition, the new sheet has collected all those things that were positive for the citizenship of previous contracts and has been improving others. Thus, Moh explained that, in the document prepared by the Executive of the People’s Party, it was stated that 50% of the cabins had to have a bathroom inside it, the documents prepared by the current Government indicate that 100% of the cabins must have a bathroom.
They also include a differentiated space for pets, a code of conduct at the service of all citizens… and, in short, “a series of improvements that have been incorporated so that this contract offers a better and greater service to citizens”, he stressed.
The Delegate regretted the populism and demagogy with which the popular are addressing this issue and with which the PP intends to frighten the Melillenses when the reality is that the new contract means better rates and better ships than with the Executive of Rajoy.
At this point, the head of the Government Delegation stressed that, the maritime contract of the Popular Party included a budget of 14.3 million euros for two years, compared to the 39.3 million that are contemplated for the new one. “The Government of Pedro Sánchez puts money to improve the service and quality of the boats,” he said.
