- The viaducts are located at kilometer points 51,2, 53,8 and 54,8 of the A-1 motorway.
- During the works, three lanes will be kept open at all times to the circulation between both senses.
- The works will allow waterproofing and repaving the boards, as well as replacing the containment systems of the structures, improving their durability and the safety of users.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility begins today, September 28, the second phase of the repair works of three viaducts of the A-1 motorway, in the municipal terms of Venturada and Cabanillas de la Sierra, in the Community of Madrid. In particular, the viaducts in which action will be taken are located at kilometric points 51.2, 53.8 and 54.8 of the aforementioned motorway.
The investment of this second phase of the work amounts to 7.28 million euros which, together with the first phase already completed, yields a total investment expected of 10.6 million euros (VAT included).
Effects on traffic
In order to minimize the effects on traffic, during the months in which the works are prolonged, the works will be executed in phases and simultaneously in the three viaducts, cutting a single lane at each moment.
You will start from the left lane of the road direction Madrid, and then go to the right lane of that same road. Once completed, the works will be transferred to the Burgos road, following the same sequence.
At all times, three lanes between the two directions shall be kept open for circulation, so that an additional lane in the opposite direction can exceptionally be enabled when necessary.
Repair work of the three viaducts
During the first phase of the works, which began in 2024, the beams, stacks, stirrups and support devices of the three viaducts were repaired. In this second phase, we will act on the platform of the six boards, one for each road, thus completing the integral rehabilitation of the structures.
The works include the complete waterproofing of the boards, their repaving and the replacement of the containment systems by new high-performance pretiles, along with the renovation of the joints and the improvement of the drainage.
This action increases the durability of the viaducts, protecting them against the entry of water and the founding salts used in winter road works. Likewise, the safety of road users is improved, in one of the main corridors of access to Madrid, through which more than 30,000 vehicles circulate daily.
