- These actions are completed and put into service while the improvement works are continued with a budget of 39.36 million euros.
- The first phase has already ended in 2023 and the third will do so in the coming weeks.
- The elimination of the braid between the M-40 and the A-6 will improve traffic fluidity and reduce the risk of accidents in an area of high circulatory intensity.
Madrid, October 9, 2025
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility carries out the latest works of improvement works and new connections in the environment of the El Barrial link (between the A-6 and the M-40), in the district of Moncloa-Aravaca (province of Madrid), with a budget of 37.95 million euros (VAT included).
A second phase of actions has been completed and opened to traffic, consisting of:
- The refurbishment of the connections of the A-6 to the Avenida de la Victoria: the old upper single carriageway of the aforementioned avenue on the railroad tracks has been replaced by a new roundabout on the racetrack.
- The extension of Alsasua Street, which connects with the previous gazebo.
- The new tunnel of the aforementioned Alsasua street, which links with the A-6 through the side road that ends under the arch bridge of Valdemarín.
- The road network around the railway station of El Barrial.
The week of October 20 is scheduled to close the old direct exit to the A-6 direction Madrid (at the kilometric point 12,500), from the roundabout next to the shopping center ‘Sexta Avenida’, thus concluding the third and last phase of actions planned in the work.
Previously, in November 2023, the first phase of the works was put into service, which consisted of the remodeling of connecting branches of the link, with actions such as the expansion of cross-sections, the splitting of vials, the expansion of existing structures and the execution of new ones, the extension of incorporation lanes and the construction of a new single-span pedestrian walkway for the passage over the A-6 that joins the areas of El Barrial and La Florida.
These actions represent a significant advance in the improvement of traffic fluidity and road safety in an area of high circulation intensity in the province of Madrid. In particular, the elimination of the braid between the traffic coming from Las Rozas that joins the M-40 and the one that accesses the A-6 in the direction of Madrid from the roundabout of the shopping center ‘Sexta Avenida’ will significantly reduce the risk of accidents. Together, all project actions will contribute to increasing the capacity and functionality of the road infrastructure in the area.
With these works, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility continues to make progress in improving the road infrastructures of the metropolitan environment of Madrid, betting on safer, more efficient and sustainable mobility.
