- The stretch is located between the link of Arturo Soria and that of San Fernando – Coslada, where two performances will be executed over 4.2 km to improve the Henares road corridor towards the entrance to Madrid.
- The first, with the extension to two lanes of the braided section of the left margin, direction Madrid, at the height of km 8,200, from the bridge of the C/ Guadalajara to the C/ Peonías.
- The other, through a semi-detached lane for the exclusive use of collective transport vehicles, between the Nudo de Eisenhower and Nudo de San Fernando.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 17.782 million euros (VAT included) to improve the accessibility of public transport on the A-2 motorway, in the stretch between the link of Arturo Soria to the link of San Fernando - Coslada, in Madrid. The announcement has recently been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
Two independent performances are planned on the left side of the A-2, which corresponds to the direction of entry to Madrid, with a joint length of about 4.2 km:
Performance 1: from km 7,800 to 8,650
The braided section located on the left bank at the height of km 8,200 will be extended to two lanes, from the C/ Guadalajara bridge to its junction with the C/ Peonias:
- The right lane will be used for circulating traffic from the Canillejas link to the C/ Peonias.
- And the left lane for braiding with the trunk of the motorway, thus avoiding interference between the different flows.
In addition, in order to improve the operation of the metropolitan bus lines, the length of the two-way service road is increased by 150 m on the left margin between km 8,500 and 8,650, also designing a roundabout for the left turns at the intersection of km 8,500. This will entail the partial change in the directions of circulation in sections of the streets Isla de Cuba and Estanislao Gómez, as well as the transfer of a bus stop.
Performance 2: Between the Knot of Eisenhower and Knot of San Fernando
This action is located between the km 11,500 to 14,900 and comprises a semi-detached lane for the exclusive use of collective transport vehicles next to the trunk of the A-2 motorway.
It will run for 2.7 km, from the incorporation into the trunk of the service track at km 14,200 to the existing stop at km 11,500, in addition to improving the exit to the M-40 with the design of a divergence that replaces the current deceleration lane.
The increase in occupancy for the new bus lane will cause the replacement of the surrounding streets to maintain its continuity. Therefore, it is necessary to extend the lower pass of the km 12,750 by executing a new structure with a single 26 m span, parallel to the current one.
A-2 motorway, main road axis east of Madrid
The A-2 motorway is one of the main exit and entry axes to the east of the city of Madrid, considered as a channel to serve as a channel for long-distance traffic and interurban connection. The growth of the city around this road in this stretch has meant that, in addition to this initial function with which it was conceived, it acquires other functions of a more urban nature.
The objective of this work is to improve the mobility of the entire Henares road corridor and contribute to achieving the emission reduction target that the Ministry has set for 2030.
In addition, the risk of accidents will be reduced with the improved departure to M-14/M-40 and the displacement of three bus stops from the trunk of the A-2 to the side of the new bus lane.
