The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has signed a service contract in the amount of 2.2 million euros (VAT included) for the drafting of the project of conditioning the N-232 road as road 2+1, in the stretch between the end of the variant of Villar de Arnedo and Arrúbal, in La Rioja. The corresponding announcement will soon be published in the Official State Gazette.
The estimated budget for the execution of the works amounts to 40 million euros (VAT included) and will be executed between the approximate kilometers 373,100 and 385,800 of the N-232.
The objective is to define, with the required degree of detail to a project and a construction project, the necessary actions for the conditioning of the aforementioned section as road 2+1, including the elaboration of an environmental study for the realization of the environmental impact assessment.
This action will improve the road safety of the road in the projected section through its conditioning as a 2+1 road, which are characterized by the provision of an additional overtaking lane to allow such manoeuvre in an alternative and regulated manner between both directions of circulation.
Performance characteristics
The works to be planned for the conversion in section 2+1 of the N-232 originate from km 373,100 of the N-232 road and extend up to approximately km 385,800.
In the indicated section there is the extension of section on the current variant of Ausejo of the N-232 and from that point to the crossing with the LR-260 at km 384 on the N-232. Likewise, in km 375 the adaptation of the current link with the LR-381 to the new section of road planned is proposed; in km 375,900 it crosses the ravine of La Nava, in km 377,700 the ravine of Ruibieja and in km 378,950 the ravine of Valdeminga, all of them on the Variant of Ausejo.
As other measures, in km 379,700 it is proposed to adapt the link with the LR-259 also to the new road section, ending after the Ausejo variant, point where the route remains parallel to the N-232 to consider its extension.
Finally, the route ends by detaching from the N-232 towards the right margin, at km 383,900, to cross the LR-260, at km 384,100 where a link is proposed. It runs about 250 meters east of the N-232 and then crosses the AP-68 in the vicinity of the upper pass of the N-232 over the AP-68 at km 384,300 to end up overlapping the N-232. It ends by connecting with the start of the new section of the A-68 in Arrúbal, currently under construction.
