The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, extolled the gastronomic quality of the Butelo in a new edition of the fair that gives it its name and that was held one more year in the Fonsagrada, noting that this flagship product acts as an economic revulsive and tourist attraction of a living rural with a future. Accompanying the mayor, Carlos López, neighbors and other authorities, he highlighted the work of the councilor in promoting this event and maintaining a centuries-old tradition that places the city council on the map throughout the weekend.
Pedro Blanco presented the Butelos de Ouro that this year were awarded to eight local companies and producers, congratulating them for the distinction and thanking “all the effort made to create this fair and, above all, you keep it in time with a product of the land that Forges himself, architect of the cartaz of this edition, coined as the king of the mountain”. In this sense, he placed the winners as an example of a living rural with a future that is able to innovate from the Chacineira tradition of the mountain of Lugo.”
The winners were the Carnicería Silmer, Xosé Fernández López (Camping), Modesta Fernández Blanco, Usages RM, Hacienda Farruquiño S. L, Carnicería Tiesto, Sánchez Buenavista S.L and Casa Castilla S.L.
The delegate demonstrated the gastronomic quality of the fair and invited that “butelo is in every stew of Galicia in these carnival festivities, a unique product that was transmitted from generation to generation”. In addition, he said that the town hall of A Fonsagrada continues to be an example for Galicia and Spain, “a place to visit, to eat, to travel, to admire, but also to live and prosper”.
The butelo is protected by the Protected Geographical Indication and reflects the culinary identity of the region, contributing to the gastronomic diversity of the province and to the conservation of the historical roots of the town.
