The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, supervised this week the end of the work of conditioning the pedestrian path between Cabo Villano and the Cemetery of the English, located in Camariñas. Pedro Blanco toured part of the work together with the mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, and the acting head of the State Back Demarcation in Galicia, Carlos Gil. There he said that the performance will be completed before the end of this month of November. The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge invests in this project 1,946,742.38 euros of funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, through the Ecological Restoration and Resilience Fund (FRER).
During his visit, the government delegate stressed the importance of this initiative for the municipality of Camariñas and for the conservation of the ecosystem of the coastal area. In addition, he highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain in financing projects that contribute to sustainable development and environmental protection in Galicia.
Pedro Blanco recalled that the Recovery Plan “is reaching all the municipalities of the four provinces of Galicia and that it helps to improve the lives of Galicians and Galicians”. He stressed that “this spectacular landscape has the full support of the Government for its conservation, not only for its intrinsic value, but also for the tourist and economic impact it generates in Camariñas”. Thus, he pointed out that after the completion of the works, the pedestrian path between Cabo Villano and the Cemetery of the English “will be a safe and orderly space, which guarantees the conservation and preservation of the Land Maritime Public Domain and promotes a good and safe use of the walkers who travel the Route of the Lighthouses”.
Technical characteristics
The main objective of the project is to preserve and conserve the natural ecosystem of the Land Maritime Public Domain (D.P.M.T. ). To this end, various actions are carried out, including the conditioning of the existing path, the provision of a pedestrian path of 1.60 meters wide, reduction of the width of the transit section of emergency vehicles and service, among other actions. This seeks to reduce the pressure on the D.P.M.T., solve the alterations on the firm and guarantee the protection of the coast.
