The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, supervised the final stage of assembly of the metal walkway that will allow to safely communicate the neighborhoods of Palavea and Pedralonga, in A Coruña, at the height of the road link between the AC-11 and the N-550 road. He said that the placement of this structure, scheduled for the end of this month of October, will represent a new milestone in the remodeling of the main access road to the city of A Coruña.
The Pedralonga runway is the first of the three phases of the plan of adequacy and humanization of the Avenida de Alfonso Molina (AC-11), promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda: “the biggest road transformation in the city of A Coruña”. It has 1.6 million euros of investment and was the first work that began in Galicia funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Pedro Blanco pointed out that the implementation of this project was complex and highlighted the sensitivity of the Ministry to adapt the design of the catwalk to the demands of the citizens and the surrounding companies.
The walkway consists of two metallic sections: a central one that crosses the AC-11 road (Alfonso Molina) with a length of 52 meters, and another lateral one on the south slope, with a length of 56 meters. Both sections have a cross section of 4.8 meters by 5.2 meters. La estructura metálica está formada mediante la unión soldada de tubos de acero laminado.
In the ship of Coirós two large pieces are created for each of the van. Subsequently, these pieces, by means of a special transport, will be taken to the area of the work, where they will be joined by welding to form a single metal beam.
Once this work is completed, the walkway will be hoisted by heavy lifting machinery, and it will be placed on the batteries already executed on the track. This action will be programmed to cause the minimum possible impact on the circulation.
