The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 2.78 million euros (VAT included) for the drafting of the project for the layout and construction of the Eastern Round of Badajoz, which will serve to connect the A-81 motorway, the N-432 road and the A-5 motorway, this route being a State competence by joining exclusively integrated roads within the State Road Network. The estimated budget of the works amounts to 80 million euros (VAT included).
The performance includes an approximate length of 7.5 km of new route motorway (from km 0 of the Southern Round of Badajoz to 392,500 of the A-5 motorway), with two roads of seven meters each, lanes of 3.5 meters, external arches of 2.5 m. and internal arches 1/1.5 m.
The links provided for in the Eastern Round of Badajoz are as follows:
- The route to be developed would begin in the area where the future complete link with the A-81 will be located, and must be coordinated with the SECTION I corresponding to the Southern Round of Badajoz of the Junta de Extremadura (Link 1).
- At its crossing with the N-432, it will be necessary to perform Link 2 so that all possible movements are resolved.
- In its subsequent development, the road BA-022 of the County Council of Badajoz is crossed, where the complete Link 3 will be proposed.
- In its final area, the link with the A-5 motorway is located a few kilometers before the existing link 395 with the N-V and BA-20 road. The Link 4 to project would be of the “semi-directional” type with all the direct movements and the crossed branches at different level
Since the route of the A-5 approaches the urban area (urbanization Cerro Gordo), it is proposed to make a variant of the A-5 of about 3 km, moving it to the south in order to locate the link there without affecting the residential urban land.
In any case, during the drafting of the project, the various technically feasible alternatives for the typology of the present link will be analyzed in order to minimize as much as possible the affection to the present section of the A-5.
The necessary lateral service roads will be planned to ensure accessibility to all the plots affected by the new motorway, as well as to restore the continuity of the existing roads. The steps on or under the motorway necessary to ensure the transversal permeability of the trace, at least about 15 structures, will be projected.
The objective of the project is to develop, with the required level of detail to a project and a construction project, the solution selected in the final approval of the informative study for the section of the Eastern Round of Badajoz, between the Southeast Round of Badajoz and the A-5, fulfilling all the established requirements.
