The Council of Ministers, at its meeting today and on the proposal of Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), has authorized the tender of the works for the conditioning and rearrangement of accesses in the road N-232, section Masia de la Torreta-Morella Sur in the province of Castellón, with an estimated value of €19.6 million (without VAT).
The projected performance includes the improvement of the route in the stretch that goes from kilometer 54,900 to kilometer 60,210 of the current road, with a length of action in the main trunk of 4,85 km.
With her, the last stretch of this road that remains to be conditioned in the province of Castellón will be completed, after the entry into service last year of the Barranco de la Bota – Masia de la Torreta stretch, which had a total investment of more than 50 million euros.
Technical characteristics of the performance
A new route has been designed for a project speed of 80 km/h, with a conventional roadway section consisting of two 3.50 metre lanes and 1.50 metre arches. It seeks, at the same time, the Necessary reordering of accesses and providing the required accessibility, making the most of the existing trace to minimize the impact on the environment.
In addition, a total of 6,845 km of additional service roads have been planned to allow access to the adjoining properties. Access to the trunk has also been contemplated, through speed change lanes in its initial and central zone, and a split roundabout at its final end. This, along with the three projected lower steps, facilitate accessibility and movement between roads Of service located on both sides of the road.
The project has also been planned Construction of a new bridge over the River Bergantes, with a free width of 22.60 meters between stirrups. The existing bridge and the adjacent stretch of road will be used to access the adjoining estates. In addition, the project includes the necessary measures of restoration and environmental integration, including the installation of acoustic screens.
N-232 road
The current N-232 road runs around 3,000 vehicles a day, with 16% of heavy vehicles, and the stretch from Masía de La Torreta to Morella Sur is characterized by a sinuous route, both in plan and in elevation, due to the undulating orography of the terrain, modeled by the presence of natural channels such as the Bergantes River. In addition, except in its final area, it has a narrow cross-section that does not exceed 6 meters in width. This situation causes limitations of visibility and functionality that is aggravated by the presence of numerous accesses in the section, reasons why it has been decided to carry out the action authorized today
