STEPS TO BE TAKEN
In view of the national statistics, the road safety policy of the Ministry of the Interior this 2024 will prioritize issues such as the mortality of motorcyclists, exits of the road, distractions and drowsiness and driving under the effect of alcohol and drugs.
The motorcyclist group is one of those that most concerns the Ministry of the Interior, which prepares several measures to try to reduce the accident rate of this group:
- Updating the content of point recovery courses to incorporate a specific profile for motorcyclists who have lost their point balance and for whom safe and efficient driving courses will be programmed.
- Establishment of a mandatory course for drivers of the B permit with three years of age who want to drive motorcycles of up to 125 cubic centimeters.
- Compulsory use of the integral or modular helmet and gloves approved for motorcyclists on the road.
In addition to these measures, the DGT will review the traffic regulations:
- It will reform the Traffic Regulations to update the Traffic Signs Catalogue.
- It will promote the reform of the Regulations of Drivers, Vehicles and Circulation for the regulation of the autonomous vehicle
