The Government authorizes to tender for 175 million euros the works of the A-11 motorway between Langa de Duero and Aranda de Duero
In the provinces of Burgos and Soria
December 27, 2023.- The Council of Ministers, at its meeting today and as announced by Minister Óscar Puente last week, has authorized the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to tender the works of the Duero A-11 Motorway between Langa de Duero and Aranda de Duero, in the provinces of Burgos and Soria, with an estimated value of 175 million euros (VAT not included).
The Douro Highway will structure the movements of the northern half of the peninsula in an east-west direction. Currently, projects and construction work are being developed in different sections, but it has some sections already open to traffic. Once completed, it will connect Soria with Valladolid and Zamora and continue to the border with Portugal which, within the Road Network of the Portuguese State, will continue through the Portuguese A-4 motorway to Porto also following the route of the River Douro.
The purpose of the works now authorized by the Government is to provide continuity to the corridor of the Autovía del Duero A-11 between the towns of Langa de Duero and Aranda de Duero, a corridor that currently has in service the sections contiguous to the one now planned.
This project will provide a new impetus for the development of the A-11, the axis of which has been in service in Soria 55 km since 2019, after the completion of the El Burgo de Osma-San Esteban de Gormaz stretch last July.
Technical characteristics
The section of the A-11 Langa de Duero-Aranda de Duero is inserted between two sections in service of the motorway: the variant of Aranda de Duero and the section between Langa de Duero and San Esteban de Gormaz.
The beginning of the route is located at the end of Langa de Duero, which connects with the end of the San Esteban de Gormaz (west) – Variant of Langa de Duero of the A-11.
The new route runs generally in the form of a variant of the current N-122 and, with an approximate length of 22.3 km, ends in the municipality of Fresnillo de las Dueñas, in its connection with the section of the Aranda del Duero Variant of the A-11.
The new motorway section is designed with two 3.5 m lanes per driveway, 2.5 m outer sides, 1 m inner sides and a median of 10 m.
The following links are provided along the route of the motorway:
- Link of Langa de Duero Centro, connecting with the provincial road SO-P-5001.
- Semi-link of Langa de Duero Oeste, which allows the connection of the decreasing carriageway of the A-11 motorway (direction San Esteban de Gormaz) with the N-122, and of the N-122 with the increasing carriageway of the A-11 (direction Aranda de Duero).
- Link of Zuzones – La Vid, which connects with the road BU-923.
- Link of Vadocondes (p.k. 28+350), which connects to the BU-930 road.
The presence of the Service and Rest Area of Valladar should also be highlighted, with the execution of two explanations on both margins of the projected trunk being planned.
The motorway shall guarantee the relevant transversal permeability for the roads and roads affected, which shall be replaced, respecting as far as possible their original layout, more than 30 upper and lower re-execution steps being planned. They should be highlighted by their entity, the viaduct foreseen in the semi-link of Langa de Duero, the viaduct on the River Duero ( 250 m in length) and the upper passage of the road N-122 on the trunk of the motorway.
