Huesca.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Huesca, José Carlos Campo, held this afternoon a meeting with Lidia Ferrer, manager of the Association of Pyrenees Entrepreneurs Alto Gállego; Avelina Bellostas, president of CEOE CEPYME Huesca; Fernando Oliván, secretary of the Transport Federation of the province of Huesca; Alfredo Beltrán, president of the Cooperative of Santa Orosia, and Berta Fernández, mayor of Sabiñánigo. The deputy delegate told them that the Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Transport, “is working on a solution to resume the works of the Sabiñánigo Variant as soon as possible.”
Campo explained that, “the UTE decided to unilaterally paralyze the works this past winter, only 2% to complete the execution”. At the time of the closure of the works, the Ministry of Transport had already authorized the drafting of a third amendment, which incorporated the technical requests made by the UTE and which allowed the completion of the action. However, the UTE refused to sign the continuation of the works, considering that the modification did not meet its economic expectations. The deputy delegate recalled that the modified “is the planned route, with all the legal and administrative rigor that public contracts entail, to solve this type of situation”.
“I am in permanent contact with the Ministry of Transport, where there is a full awareness of the effects caused by this stoppage and an absolute will to resume the works as soon as possible, always subject to the obligation to comply with the law. This implies some administrative steps that have already been taken by the Ministry, and that now require the contractor’s response,” said Campo.
In any case, Campo has insisted that “the Government of Spain has a firm commitment to the infrastructures of the province of Huesca: the Sabiñánigo Variant, once this difficulty is solved, will be a reality”. Likewise, we wanted to send a message of tranquility regarding the celebration of the Quebrantahuesas March and the movements of the agricultural campaign, since the General Directorate of Roads contemplates alternatives if necessary.
It should be remembered that the works of the Sabiñánigo Este-Sabiñánigo Oeste section of the A-23 has a current budget of 108.36 million euros. Also on the A-23, the works on the Lanave-Sabiñánigo Sur stretch have a budget of 102.4 million euros. Last December, Transportes tendered for 153.6 million euros the construction of the Variant of Jaca that will connect the A-21 and A-23 motorways.
