The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility reopens the N-260 between Congosto de Ventamillo and Campo, in the province of Huesca, to traffic tomorrow, after investing 75.7 million euros in conditioning the road to improve traffic and safety conditions.
Thus, from 2 p.m. on Friday, October 11, the last cut of traffic activated between El Run and Campo ends for the execution of the works and the vehicles will be able to move again along the 12 km stretch, guaranteeing the connectivity of the region.
In a first phase, the circulation between the towns of El Run and Campo will take place at 40 km/h. The temporary limitation of the speed is due to the fact that the Ministry is completing a series of complementary and timely work.
For their part, the two new tunnels of the section will be put into service in the coming weeks, once the safety tests and verification of their facilities, related to lighting, signage, among others, are completed, as required by current safety regulations. In these sections, the circulation will be carried out by the old parallel road.
Since the work continues, the users are asked for maximum caution and respect for the signage in this section, for their own safety and that of the workers.
Characteristics of the performance
The works consist of the extension of the platform of the N-260 road from the initial 5.5 m to 8 m through the construction of cantilevers supported and anchored in rock, to minimize occupation and impact in the areas that run along the River Ésera. In this way, the crossing of two heavy vehicles or buses will be facilitated.
In addition, the project has included the implementation of two tunnels of 265 m and 540 m length respectively.
During this period of cutting, the rolling layer has been extended, the sinks of structures have been executed, the signage, defences and beaconing of the stretch have been implanted, and plantations and hydroplanting actions have been carried out. However, it is still necessary to finish the vertical signage, as well as some details related to the drainage and environmental restoration of the stretch.
All the conditioning has been designed with special attention to environmental conditions and in such a way that the affections to the users during the execution of the works are as minor as possible.
