The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory has activated in the subdelegations of the Government in Huelva and Barcelona two offices of comprehensive care for the affected and family members of the victims of railway accidents, with the aim of channeling, informing and assisting in the processing of compensation approved by the Government of Spain through Royal Decree in the Council of Ministers, as well as providing accompaniment and administrative support to the affected families.
The Huelva office is operational from today in the Subdelegation on Berdigón Street 11-13. The office in Barcelona has been activated on Calle Bergara 12, ground floor.
In addition, the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory will make available points of attention in the subdelegations that are necessary in the territories where all affected persons reside. In addition, it will make available the service of ‘The Administration Near You’ so that, in the case of not being able to travel to the physical offices, these people can be attended by personnel of the subdelegations of the Government in their own home and in any point of the territory.
The aid plan approved by the Spanish Government amounts to EUR 20 million, of which EUR 10 million is earmarked for direct aid and another EUR 10 million is made available as an advance for insurance indemnities, within the framework of civil liability insurance.
This Royal Decree aims to provide immediate assistance and advance part of the corresponding compensation, in order to quickly meet the needs of the people affected.
These aids will be compatible with the indemnities of compulsory insurance and civil liability, and will be exempt from taxation. In addition, they will be paid in a single payment in the form of immediate assistance to victims and advance compensation for accident insurance.
