The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Albert Dalmau, have agreed at their meeting this morning to bring together the Bilateral Commission and the Joint Commission on Transfers with Catalonia on February 24.
In this way, the meetings of the commissions between the Government of Spain and the Generalitat of Catalonia are promoted “for the approval of new transfers and progress in the development of the Statute, the expansion of self-government and cooperation between the two public administrations,” the minister stressed.
They have also agreed on the meeting of the Infrastructure and Economic and Fiscal Affairs committees in February.
Minister Torres, together with Councillor Damau, stressed that the teams of the Government of Spain and the Generalitat hold different working meetings “with the aim of advancing co-governance, promoting cooperation and regional development and the normalization of relations between both administrations”.
New transfers to Catalonia
Minister Torres has discussed with Councillor Dalmau the new transfers to Catalonia that will be addressed next month, and that are related to education, justice, the environment and more funding for essential services.
According to the calendar advanced by the minister and the councillor, the commissions between the Government of Spain and the Generalitat of Catalonia are set in motion in the next few days: on February 17 the Infrastructure Commission will meet, on February 24 the Bilateral and Cooperation Commission and the Joint Transfer Commission will meet and the last week of February the Commission for Economic and Fiscal Affairs.
