- Attracting the best professionals and rejuvenating the staff, with an average age today of 52 years, are the outstanding objectives of the campaign
The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function launches through its social media channels the ninth video of the campaign of dissemination of talent acquisition for the General Administration of the State (AGE).
The testimony today is that of José María Mañero, a public employee who is part of the National Orchestra of Spain, based in the National Auditorium, with recognition and awards for his work.
José María Mañero is an example of how public employment can be accessed in very different fields, where appropriate, to respond to a personal vocation, such as music, and at the same time develop a professional career in the world of culture and the arts at the service of citizens.
The campaign, which includes the dissemination of testimonies of public employees and employees from different sectors, is part of the Talent Acquisition Plan initiated in 2019 by the Government of Spain, with the aim of explaining to young people the multiple possibilities and opportunities offered by public employment.
Attracting young people to public employment
The objective of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function with this campaign is to encourage those people who are aware of the value of public services and their contribution to the citizens to work in the AGE.
Public employment is also valued by conveying to young people the pride of working as public servants, as José María Mañero does every day in the National Orchestra of Spain, contributing his knowledge and professionalism to the service of citizens.
The campaign, launched on April 20, will continue in the coming weeks with the testimonies of more public employees who will tell about their professional experience and the possibilities offered by public employment both in Spain and in the representations of our country abroad.
The attraction of talent, to continue offering the best public services, is one of the objectives, as is the rejuvenation of the staff of the AGE, with an average age today of 52 years, after a period with zero replacement rates in the last decade. Another important fact of the aging of the staff at the service of the AGE is that only 12% are under 40 years old and, at the current rate, in 10 years half of the staff will have retired.
With these objectives, attraction of talent and rejuvenation of staff, the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function organizes informative days in universities, other educational centers and professional colleges to offer a modern image of the AGE, also as an employer, and placing in value the public, which in times of pandemic has shown its importance to face difficult situations while maintaining the best public services.
The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function, Miquel Iceta, has presided over two of these days, on April 15 at the Carlos III University in Madrid, and on June 10 at the Pedro Mercedes IES in Cuenca, which are also broadcast on the Ministry’s Twitch channel, a new way to bring messages closer to the youngest.
