The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Miquel Iceta, participated today in the closing ceremony of the First Congress of the Federation of Employees and Employees of the Public Services of UGT (FeSP-UGT), which has re-elected Julio Lacorn as Secretary General.
Iceta has praised the role played by public employees during the pandemic, health professionals and all groups who have worked hard to continue providing the best public services during this time.
The minister also referred to the administration of the 21st century and the need to reduce the temporality in public administrations to the percentage currently registered by the General Administration of the State, 8%. Percentage of temporality that today exceeds 30% in the autonomous communities and 13% in the local entities.
In order to reduce the temporary situation, Iceta wants to agree with the public administrations and trade union representatives on the reform of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee (EBEP) to establish the obligation of the public administrations to fill in a maximum period of three years the places occupied by people without a fixed contract.
In addition, following the expansion of the current stabilization processes, it has announced that, with respect for the constitutional principles of equality, merit and capacity in access to the public service, a final process will be carried out to promote the permanent stabilization of interim personnel who permanently perform structural functions.
