The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has presided over the Territorial Council of Democratic Memory in which it has approved, without votes against, the distribution of the funds corresponding to 2024 so that the autonomous communities and cities continue the work of locating, exhumating and identifying people disappeared during the war in Spain and the Franco dictatorship. These budgetary allocations will also be used to publicize and dignify the burial sites.
The Government will also make available to the regional CCAA participating in Democratic Memory programs a computer system that will integrate DNA profiles to allow identification and systematic searches with mortal remains of exhumations.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Fernando Martínez, and representatives of the autonomous communities and cities with competences in democratic memory.
