After the proclamation of the Republic, the Provisional Government launched a policy of socio-labor, educational, secularist, military reforms... that sought to modernize Spain and equip it with the most advanced European models. Reforms that clashed with the resistance to change of more conservative sectors, in a context of intense conflict and depression due to the economic crisis of 29. The State Secretariat for Democratic Memory and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Extremadura have organized this colloquium, face-to-face and online, in which prominent historians will participate to reflect on the reforms of that democratic experience that was the Second Republic, established 90 years ago.
The event will take place on February 15, 16 and 17, 2022.
