The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, and the Provincial Director of the Imserso, Verónica Aznar, have inaugurated the expansion of the Center of Diurnal Stays of the Social Center of Seniors, an action that, “responds to a need demanded by the users themselves”.
The inauguration of this extension, which has been very much celebrated by the users of the center, has been accompanied by the performance of a pastoral and a toast in which Moh, Aznar, users and workers of the center have taken advantage to convey their best Christmas wishes.
As Aznar has explained, the profile of people who attend the Day Center has changed in recent years, with increasing levels of dependency and the need for technical aids, such as wheelchairs or walkers. “The space was becoming small,” he explained, “which made it essential to have an intervention to improve care.”
The expansion has involved an investment of 40,000 euros, which includes both the safety study and the execution of the work and the renovation of materials and equipment.
Feeling of being in the family
The performance has been inspired by the “new person-centered model”, with the aim of deinstitutionalizing the center and turning it into a warmer and closer environment: “A home, a home and a feeling of being in the family,” Aznar said.
Among the improvements, the change of estores, more comfortable furniture and a design oriented to create a more cozy atmosphere stand out. In addition to expanding the space of the day center, an integral reform of the three bathrooms has been carried out, since previously there were only two, to respond to the demand of users.
The three bathrooms have been adapted to the reality of the elderly in the center, especially those with a higher dependency or reduced mobility, incorporating larger spaces prepared for the use of technical aids.
