The Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Laura Segura Sarompas, visited this Tuesday the information point installed in Menéndez Pelayo square on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
During her visit, Segura spoke with the technical staff specialized in gender equality and violence, who offer citizens information on the resources, services and support programs available, as well as awareness and prevention materials.
She has also had the opportunity to talk with the workers of the 24-hour Comprehensive Care Center for Victims of Sexual Violence, a resource that treats with guarantees the sexual violence suffered by women in our city, offering legal, psychological and social support.
Segura recalled that Melilla was one of the first cities to have a comprehensive care center operating at full capacity, thanks to the impetus of the Government of Spain and the important investment aimed at strengthening services specialized in sexual violence. In this sense, he has recognized the good work that is done from this center, highlighting it as an example of quality care for women victims of sexual violence.
The Head of the Unit stressed that “the fight against gender violence is a fight for all, and the tasks of institutional collaboration are essential”, reiterating the will of the Government Delegation to continue working in coordination with all administrations and social entities to offer a comprehensive, human and effective response to all forms of male violence.
