The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has firmly rejected the accusations of the Popular Party on an alleged partisan use of the Employment Plans, describing them as “categorically false”.
“Either they are liars or they are ignorant. If they have evidence to say so, then I’ll be the one to take legal action,” he said. “For something they are the cowardly right-winger: they insinuate, slander and lie, and something will remain,” he said.
The head of the Delegation of the Government Moh has defended the transparency that the Government of Spain applies to the Employment Plans since 2018, “the first thing we did was to provide transparency: publish the occupation codes and establish objective criteria so that all Melillenses can compete in equal opportunities”. This contrasts with the management of the PP, with whom “we did not know the requirements, nor the positions, nor the codes”.
In this regard, he recalled that even “a current PP Councilor in the local government, José Ronda, worked in the Delegation in the Employment Plans and can attest to how they are managed with total transparency. Ask him, to see if he’s ever seen what his own colleagues are implying.”
In this way, he has again explained that “the polls are not done by the Government Delegation, they are done by the SEPE with objective criteria controlled by the Intervention”. For this reason, he has assured that with these accusations, “all the professionals of the SEPE and the Delegation, who work rigorously so that this tool of the State benefits the Melillenses, are disrespectful.”
The head of the delegation also recalled that, contrary to what happened with the PP, the current Government allows unemployed people who receive benefits to access the Employment Plans, “because we believe in equal opportunities and in the labor insertion of those who need it most.”
Smokescreen
The top representative of the Spanish government in the city has accused the people of using these accusations as a “smokescreen” to cover up their own management. “I don’t know if they do it out of ignorance, out of bad faith or both. What is clear is that we have very different ways of doing politics: I go to the neighborhoods, not only in campaign, but during the four years, to listen to the neighbors. And because the PP doesn’t like that, they throw hoaxes and smoke curtains.”
“The PP does not support us being with the neighbors listening to their needs first hand. That’s why they invent lies to cover up their nefarious management. But it is a very big lie that seeks to deceive the citizens, and I am convinced that they know that it is false: if they had evidence, they would have taken it to court. Their only strategy is to defame and try to deceive the Melillenses,” he concluded.
For all of this, Moh has concluded by asking the PP “height of vision and responsibility”: “It is a huge lie that seeks to deceive the citizens. I am convinced that the PP knows that it is false, because if they had evidence they would have taken it to court. We are not going to allow something as important as equal opportunities for workers to be played with.”
Impossible to manipulate the listings
For his part, the Provincial Director of the SEPE, Jorge Vera, has defended the work of the officials and has described the accusations as “very serious”. “The entire process is monitored and controlled by the central services. It is impossible to manipulate the listings. Neither the Delegation nor the SEPE choose anyone: all occupations are published on the SEPE website and the surveys are done with objective criteria”, he explained.
In this way, he insisted that the key to transparency is precisely that “all occupations and requirements are published on the SEPE website so that any citizen can see them and attend on equal terms”.
Vera has stressed that “these accusations are also a lack of respect for the officials, who have won their place by opposition and perform a magnificent job, with independence and total transparency.”
