- These are the service areas of Meco, located at km 35,500 of the R-2; Támbora, at km 18,500 of the R-3; and Polvoranca, at km 5,500 of the R-5.
- The duration of the contract is eight years and is part of the objective of ensuring the sustainability of the motorway network managed by SEITT.
The Council of Ministers, at its meeting today, authorized the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to tender for 17.88 million euros (VAT not included) a concession contract for the conservation and operation of the service areas of Meco, Támbora and Polvoranca, located on the R-2, R-3 and R-5 radials managed by the State Society of Land Transport Infrastructures (SEITT), in the Community of Madrid.
Specifically, this contract will last eight years and will be intended for the exploitation of the following service areas:
• Meco, located on the Radial 2 motorway, km 35,500, both margins.
• Támbora, located on the Radial 3 motorway, km 18,500, both margins.
• Polvoranca, located on the Radial 5 motorway, km 5,500, both margins.
The tender for the concession of services of these service areas is closely linked to the strategic line of the Society, focused on ensuring the sustainability of the network of motorways managed by SEITT.
Service areas managed by SEITT
SEITT has been responsible since 2018 for the direct management of the operation and conservation of toll highways (Radial 2, Radial 3, Radial 4, Radial 5, M-12, AP-41, AP-36, AP-7 Circumvalation of Alicante and AP-7 Cartagena–Vera), as well as the free sections of motorways and roads of associated state ownership, including their service areas.
In total, it is entrusted with the operation and maintenance of 13 service areas that add up to 25 service stations (two per margin, except in Mazarrón that only has one).
Currently, SEITT directly manages these three service areas (Meco, Támbora and Polvoranca), which are now tendered in concession. With the aim of unifying the management of all service areas, once the most convenient form of exploitation has been analyzed, the service concession model has been chosen, as was done in 2022 with the service areas of La Atalaya, La Sagra and Mazarrón.
