Given the statements issued by some political leaders in recent days in relation to the actions and operating procedures of the National Police, the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, wants to show his total support for the Corps and his firm rejection of any attitude, statement or proceeding that calls into question the professionalism of its agents.
“It is unacceptable that, day after day, attempts are being made to coerce police officers, as we have seen over the past few days. In particular, the statements made yesterday by a national deputy on social networks and before the IPU are particularly serious in questioning the professionalism and rigour of their actions,” declares the delegate.
“The National Police is carrying out exemplary work with strictly operational criteria in defence of democracy and the Constitution, safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms. No attempt to direct police action through coercion and threats is admissible in a democracy, even less by virtue of the status of deputy in the Cortes Generales.”
The government delegate defends the application of the proportionality criterion in the operational decision-making carried out in recent weeks, appealing to the professionalism and responsibility of the police.
“I insist that the agents and commanders of the National Police and the Superior Headquarters of Madrid act and have always acted on the basis of operative police criteria. They will continue to do so despite the regrettable statements of people who in no case have the competence to control the police, an attempt at instrumentalization that shows little regard for the State Security Forces and Corps.”
