The acting territorial delegate of the AEMET in La Rioja, Arcadio Blasco, presented today in the Government Delegation in La Rioja the climate balance of the autumn of 2025 in the Community and the progress of the seasonal prediction for this winter.
Arcadio Blasco commented that last autumn it was “very warm in terms of temperatures”, registering an average temperature in La Rioja of 13.1°C, 0.9°C above the average. In particular, 2025 has been the warmest autumn since the beginning of the historical series in 1961.
In addition, the trend shows that the autumn of the last four years has been warmer than normal.
In terms of rainfall, the autumn has been dry, especially in the eastern half of La Rioja, specifically the twenty-fourth driest since the beginning of the series in 1961, with 119.2 liters per square meter, which is 77% of the normal, and a deficit of 36 liters per square meter.
Christmas Preview
According to the prediction models, there is “a high probability that the quarter (December 2025 and January and February 2026), in average temperatures, will be warmer than normal”, according to the AEMET delegate and there is no clear trend in terms of rainfall.
Regarding the prediction for the next Christmas dates, Blasco has reported that tomorrow Friday, December 19, a front will enter Galicia that will leave rain and on Sunday another one arrives with low temperatures, rainfall and also snow in the mountains.
He also stressed the importance that, on these Christmas dates, when displacement increases, “the population is aware of the updates of the weather forecast and the warnings that AEMET issues”.
