The delegate of the Government in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, together with the head of Constructions Roy, Iván Caro, visited this morning the old Palace of Justice of Logroño, a building that will be rehabilitated to house the units of the General Administration of the State (AGE) in the capital of Rioja.
Arraiz Nalda has explained that currently the tasting of the building is being carried out, a necessary step to prepare the opinion on its status. At the same time, work is being done on the detailed programming of the future occupation by the different services of the AGE of the former Palace of Justice, in order to make it in accordance with the elaboration of the project contracting document, since the facilities must be adapted to it.
This opinion on the state of the building and the scheduling of the distribution of the facilities is expected to end in this first quarter. Therefore, he expressed his satisfaction with the development of the rehabilitation project, since “the established deadlines are being met at a good pace and the forecast is that it will be fully operational in 2027”.
According to the delegate of the Government, “the integral rehabilitation of the former Palace of Justice is a project aligned with the strategic plan of the Ministry of Territorial Policy to bring the General Administration of the State closer to the citizens, as well as the optimization of the abandoned state-owned buildings that will be rehabilitated to be more sustainable and efficient.”
At the same time, unifying different services of the AGE in a single building will also improve the attention to citizenship and the saving of real estate rentals in which certain services of agencies of the Government of Spain are now provided.
In addition, Arraiz Nalda has commented that one of the objectives of this transfer is the revitalization of the area of Bretón de los Herreros Street, which was abandoned in 2016.
Project phases
The project of integral rehabilitation of the former Palace of Justice began in May 2022 with the signing of the General Protocol for the action in the building and the subsequent disaffectation of the same of the Ministry of Justice in favor of those of Finance and Public Function and Territorial Policy.
Subsequently, and following the agreement between the ministries that will occupy the units on the distribution of surfaces, the phase corresponding to the study of the state of the building is being completed and the drafting of the project is then contracted. The planimetric survey has already been completed, the corresponding licenses have been processed with the City Council and, at this time, tasting samples are being taken.
In parallel, meetings are being held to finalize the occupation of the building and, in this way, continue with the elaboration of the project contracting document.
Finally, according to the planning of the final phases, which include the integral rehabilitation works of the old building of the Palace of Justice, the forecast is that the new building will be in operation in 2027.
