The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has awarded, for an amount of 1,092,981.72 euros (VAT included), the works for the humanization of the N-232A road in Tirgo, between the km 455,000 and 458,000, in La Rioja.
The largest performances are concentrated in the urban area, between km 456,350 and 456,860, where two areas are distinguished:
- Zone 1 with urban traffic, but coexisting with the traffic provided by the LR-201, between km 456,350 and 456,620, it is proposed to decrease the width of the lanes up to 3.25 m in order to achieve both a greater surface on sidewalks, favoring the mobility of pedestrians, and to calm traffic. On the sidewalks will be placed corks, with medium-sized trees, and benches.
- Zone 2 with almost exclusively urban traffic, between the km 456,620 and 456,860, in this stretch it is proposed to reduce the platform until leaving a lane width of 3.10 m. In this area, the pavement for the circulation of vehicles and the sidewalks will be located at the same level, giving a more urban aspect and prioritizing the mobility of pedestrians over vehicles. The pavement for the circulation of vehicles will consist of polished concrete, diamond and surface bowing to leave the arid seen, in addition to trees, banks and trash cans will be placed to give a more human appearance. In this area, the movement of heavy vehicles will be prohibited after the work has been carried out.
For its part, in the interurban areas, the rehabilitation of the firm will be carried out.
Humanization included in the Recovery Plan
After the construction of the Tirgo Variant, the N-232 road, which ran within the municipality passing through the urban case, was renamed N-232A and lost its functionality within the State Road Network.
This project, which is funded by the European recovery funds, aims to give this journey a humanising character, giving priority as far as possible to actions that improve road safety, calm traffic, promote sustainable mobility and increase the quality of life of neighbours.
The humanization of the crossing implies its cession to the City of Tirgo, which becomes the new responsible for its conservation and maintenance as the owner of the road.
It should be noted that the cession of this section, which currently belongs to the State Road Network, will not impair the continuity of the state road network or its functionality since there is a better alternative for long-distance traffic.
The action is included in the Recovery Plan, which will allocate up to 105 million euros of European funds to humanize urban sections of the State Road Network.
