The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the total collaboration of the Government of Spain with the Xunta de Galicia to stop the wave of fires that in these days is affecting different parts of the Galician territory, with special gravity in the province of Ourense: “we make available to Galicia all available state resources. I repeat, everyone.”
Pedro Blanco reiterated this offer during his stay at the CECOP that constituted the Xunta in the Fire Coordination Center of Ourense after decreeing emergency level 2 throughout this province. The government delegate traveled this morning to the emergency coordination center together with the subdelegate of the government in the province, Eladio Santos, to analyze the evolution of the situation in this province along with the commands of the Xunta de Galicia, responsible for the extinction device.
There, he launched a message of unity among the administrations with the primary objective of “protexer o noso”. He also extended this collaboration to the investigation of the causes of the fires and to the identification and detention of incendiary persons in those who are provoked, condemning these events and warning that “they will not go unpunished.”
Professionalism and commitment
The government delegate highlighted the professionalism of the teams of MITECO, the UME, State Security Forces and Bodies and other emergency services that work “without rest” within the framework of the autonomous extinction device: “I would like to thank you for your effort and your commitment to the Galicians and Galicians. They are always up to the task.” The delegate expressed his concern about the condition of the operators injured in the tasks of extinction, wishing them a prompt recovery of the wounds.
Pedro Blanco stressed that in these days “we are collaborating side by side with the Xunta, who is in charge of the emergency, and with the municipalities of the affected areas.” Precisely, the delegate and the subdelegate will visit throughout today to several municipalities affected by the fires to meet with the mayors and know the first extent of the damage.
The delegate conveyed his solidarity and affection to the neighbors affected by the lapas as well as with the mayors of these municipalities and asked the citizens to take precautions during these days in all their activities abroad and in their travels.
