The subdelegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today condemned the machista murder of a 34-year-old woman in the province of Badajoz by the hands of her partner, leaving four minor daughters orphaned.
With this new crime, the number of women killed by gender violence has risen to 24 so far this year, two of them being Galician, and 1,318 since 2003. In addition, 16 boys and girls were orphaned in 2025 as a result of male violence, bringing the total number to 485 since 2013.
As a sign of condemnation and solidarity with the victim and her family, the subdelegate headed a minute of silence in front of the Subdelegation this afternoon, accompanied by various local authorities, State Administration personnel and members of the State Security Forces and Corps.
Isabel Rodríguez called for institutional unity and social involvement in the face of gender violence: “Murders like this remember that we can’t lower our guard. The fight against male violence must be a political priority and a collective commitment as a democratic society. There is no neutrality possible in the face of male terrorism.”
