On behalf of the Government of Spain, the subdelegate conveyed her condolences to both the family and persons close to the victim. “Today we observe a minute’s silence with pain and indignation in our hearts, because once again we have to lament the murder of a woman for the simple act of seal,” said Rivas, recalling that this is not an isolated case, but one more expression of a structural violence that must be fought from all areas of society.
“The Government of Spain maintains a firm, active and unwavering commitment in the fight against gender violence, strengthening public resources and promoting courageous policies to protect victims, raising awareness and ensuring that no crime goes unpunished,” said the deputy delegate, calling for responsibility and the importance of denouncing and supporting all victims.
“There can be no real equality as long as women continue to die,” he stressed, alluding to the collective responsibility and the work of institutions to eradicate any signs of violence against women.
