The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, today highlighted the importance of the tender for the project of the work of the new pedestrian walkway of access to the castle of Santa Cruz, in the city of Oleiros, by the Government of Spain through the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. The performance has a budget of 74,887.63 euros and the deadline for submission of offers will be open until September 2.
“We talk about an intervention of enormous symbolic, social and patrimonial value,” stressed Rivas, who recalled that the castle of Santa Cruz is a Good of Cultural Interest and an emblem of the Galician coastal defense. The new walkway will improve pedestrian access to the island, ensuring safety and responding to a repeated demand from the neighborhood and the City Council.
The subdelegate explained that this action “goes beyond infrastructure”, since it is a commitment to the conservation of heritage and sustainable tourism. “The castle hosts cultural and educational activities that attract thousands of visitors every year. Improving access is also improving the tourist projection of Oleiros”, he concluded.
