The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, recalled today, on the occasion of the visit to the Advanced Command Post from which all the security actions of the night of San Xoán in A Coruña will be coordinated, the special security device planned that will have more than 120 personnel of the State Security Forces, Local Police and emergency services. “A device that we deployed to ensure security and to make this night of San Xoán a safe celebration,” he summarized.
The subdelegate stressed that this operation "is improved year by year" and includes the participation of all specialized units of the National Police, such as TEDAX, canine guides —who will inspect the seafront and underground parking lots—, the subsurface team, as well as the mobile brigades that will do preventive work in the train, bus and other strategic points of the city, in coordination with the Local Police.
In addition, drones with the capacity to detect and inhibit unauthorized devices will be used and there will be a Civil Guard boat that will carry out surveillance work at sea, and with the collaboration of Salvamento Marítimo if necessary.
Another noteworthy aspect will be the integration of the National Police in the Violeta Points installed by the City Council along the Paseo Maritimo, paying specialized attention to possible cases of gender violence.
“Beyond the technical deployment, we want to place special emphasis on the prevention of theft, so we ask everyone who comes to enjoy the party to collaborate following the indications and avoiding carrying unnecessary objects of value,” said Rivas, who recognized the work of all the bodies involved in this special device. “I want to thank the security forces and bodies, local police, civil protection and all the emergency personnel that this evening will make it possible for the celebration to be the protagonist,” he said.
