The subdelegate of the Government of Spain in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated this morning in the Xunta Local de Seguridad in the Concello de Rianxo to analyze the latest data and the actions carried out between the Civil Guard and the Local Police of the Concello to guarantee the safety of the neighborhood. Rivas highlighted “the joint work of the Civil Guard and the Local Police that translates into good data and the perception of security that the neighborhood has.”
This is corroborated by the crime rate that places this town hall as one of the safest. Rianxo has an index of 23 crimes per thousand inhabitants, well below the national average that is 51; the Galician, in 35; and the provincial that is in 38. The subdelegate also highlighted the importance of training and public awareness in crime prevention and highlighted the results achieved with the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments.
In the last year, the Civil Guard carried out 18 activities in 3 educational centers of Rianxo, which were attended by a total of 399 people, among students, teachers and parents of the students. The activities focused on topics such as cybersecurity, bullying and environmental and nature protection.
In addition, in this meeting progress was made in the coordination of the security device of the Fiestas de la Guadalupe 2025, one of the most emblematic celebrations of the town, which every year brings together thousands of people attracted by the tradition, music, culture and cozy atmosphere of Rianxo.
“The security device that is planned is designed to ensure the good development of all scheduled events, with detailed planning and specific measures adapted to each activity, paying special attention to the days and spaces with greater concentration of public, both day and night,” said the deputy delegate.
The operation will be coordinated between the City of Rianxo, the State security forces and bodies, the Local Police, the emergency services and civil protection, with the aim of making the festivities run completely normally and without incidents. “Although the festivities will be in September, we work in advance to reinforce planning and improve coordination among all the agencies involved,” he said.
VioGen system
The Xunta Local de Seguridad also analyzed the data of the Integral System in cases of gender violence, VioGen. Rianxo has 22 victims of gender-based violence. The VioGén System, under the Ministry of the Interior, is a system of protection for victims of gender-based violence in which the State security forces and bodies collaborate with the local police of the concellos.
Of the 60 municipalities in the province that have local police, 27 of them are members of the VioGén System. Of the 22 victims of Rianxo, all are Spanish; while of the authors, 20 are of Spanish origin and 2 from abroad.
By age, the register is repeated, the highest number of victims and perpetrators are between 31 and 64 years old. But between 18 and 30 years there are 5 victims and 2 perpetrators, second said the Government’s deputy delegate. “I insist on this data because at that age they have more training and instruments to be aware of coexistence and respect for others, and that they start to be part of the statistics is a strong wake-up call,” explained Rivas.
