The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the action of the Government of Spain as “the greatest guarantee of the investments that transform the Galician municipalities and improve the quality of life of the people”. In the framework of a visit to the Ames, he highlighted the involvement of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the improvement of the urban quality of the large Galician villas, with sustainability and with the impulse to the innovative industry, with a volume of investment that is around 10 million euros in this municipality.
The government delegate held a meeting with the mayor, Blas García, to discuss infrastructure issues and oversee state investments in the council. At the meeting, he highlighted the project of humanization of the N-550 in the Milladoiro as an example of the government’s commitment to improving mobility, turning the old crossing into a more friendly space, accessible and designed for people, with bike lanes, wider sidewalks and a single circulation lane.
The delegate reported that the work is progressing in time and it is expected that it can be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The action has a budget of 4.4 million euros financed by the Ministry of Transport through the Recovery Plan.
During the visit, the government delegate recognized, precisely, the capacity of the mayor to attract the European funds of the Government that continue to transform Galicia from the local level. Thus, he pointed to the creation of the Community Transformation Office, with a state contribution of 80,000 euros, to advise citizens in the creation of local energy communities, or the Ames Digital Water project, financed with 1.13 million euros from the PERTE of the Water Cycle, as examples of municipal projects for the benefit of citizens "that are possible thanks to the Recovery Plan". “These are the investments that make the Galician concellos grow making them more efficient and designed to live better. The Government is transforming the large Galician villas from below, betting on a model of sustainable and innovative future,” said Pedro Blanco.
At the same time, he recalled that Ames attended the call for the EDIL program with ambitious projects that could mobilize up to 15 million euros to continue the social and urban transformation. The delegate also stressed that the government is the biggest ally of companies. Proof of this is the aid of 1.42 million euros from the PERTE Chip granted to Maxwell Applied Technologies, based in the Milladorio.
In addition, he highlighted the promotion of sustainable tourism, through the Sustainable Tourism Plan Tierras de Santiago of which Ames is part, or the commitment to connectivity, with more than 500 homes and companies benefited by the extension of broadband in the municipality thanks to the Single Plan.
The Government, always on the side of the citizenry
After the meeting in the Concello, the delegate took the opportunity to visit, together with the mayor, one of the Integral Documentation Vehicles (VIDOC) of the National Police for the issuance of the ID and the passport, which is traveling through 75 Galician concellos to bring this service closer to the citizens and which today stopped in Bertamiráns.
Pedro Blanco verified the functioning of a service that “is having an excellent reception on the part of the neighborhood and that represents “the commitment of the Government to always be on the side of the people, also in the small efforts that facilitate daily life.
