The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas held today a working meeting in the Subdelegation with the mayor of Culleredo, José Ramón Rioboo; the director of the airport of Alvedro, Joan Ibáñez; the head of the Demarcation of Roads in Galicia, Ángel González del Río, and the director of the Promotion area of the Delegation of the Government, Ana Quintairos, to analyze the possible commercial and service uses of the plot of the old temporary parking lot of Aena at the airport of A Coruña, together with A 550.
The subdelegate reported that these lands, 20,000 square meters that were enabled as temporary parking to facilitate the construction of the current parking lot of the Corunnese airport, had been inactive since 2010. “What it is about and being able to give them a new use and also to do it generating new services and employment opportunities in the region,” said Rivas.
In addition to knowing the possible uses, which would include a shopping area, parking and associated services, the issue of access to the plot was addressed, since Aena's plans affect a project that the Government had agreed with the Concello de Culleredo to enable pedestrian paths in the vicinity of the N-550.
However, the subdelegate pointed out that the project to return the activity to the grounds of the airport “is still in an initial phase” and that the work now focuses on defining the possible actions to guarantee future access “in the best safety conditions, both for pawns and for vehicles”. In this regard, he highlighted the role of the Government Subdelegation in coordinating the different studies and actions that make this project a reality.
