The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning together with the mayor, Inés Rey, the common meeting of the Xunta Local de Seguridad de A Coruña that was held in the city council. In it, an analysis of citizen security was made in which the National Police Force and the Local Police jointly participate and the data related to gender violence were also studied.
Both the State security forces and the sub-delegate made a positive analysis with the data relating to security: “A Coruña is working very well, proof of this are these positive figures that are being achieved and that are, in large part, due to the magnificent collaboration between the different security forces.” In the meeting they referred to the collaborative work of the National and Local Police, who have been working hand in hand for years making joint devices and maintaining regular meetings in which they exchange information of police interest and with which they coordinate the more than 30 devices that were carried out last year in sports events, as well as with those related to leisure such as neighborhood parties, horseback riding or Sano Xoan, among others.

María Rivas stressed that the city of A Coruña received, since 2018, more than 500 thousand euros from the funds of the State pact to carry out actions in the field of awareness and awareness in the fight against gender violence: “More than half a million euros for all kinds of awareness and sensitization activities in the fight against all kinds of violence against women”.
In this matter they insisted on the collaboration between the subdelegation of the Government, the city of A Coruña and the State security forces, which is concretized in the joint work to protect the victims through the VioGén System.
“In this sense, violet dots are also very important, with which we manage to fight this problem,” added Rivas, which is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality with which “citizens can access information to act correctly in a case of violence.”
This action is part of the catalogue of urgent measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan promoted by the different ministries of the Government of Spain: “This means a change of focus in public policies to care for victims because, we must not forget, male violence is a structural problem that requires the involvement of society to end it.”
