The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, held today a working meeting with the mayor of Melide, José Manuel Pérez, to discuss the measures related to the imminent opening of the section of the A-54 motorway between the town of Coruña and the luguesa of Palas de Rei.
I do not find, which was also attended by the head of the State Road Demarcation in Galicia, Ángel González del Río, and heads of the company in charge of executing the works (Acciona), the subdelegate and the mayor reviewed the progress of the measures agreed at the meeting held last November.
María Rivas attended to the demands of the Concello while explaining some of the actions to guarantee security and facilitate the transit of vehicles after the opening of this new section of motorway, coordinated with the Civil Traffic Guard and the General Traffic Directorate. In this regard, he advanced the recommendation of diversion for heavy vehicles of more than 8 tons by the N-547 to avoid its passage through the AC-840 and the elimination of islets to facilitate turns to heavy traffic, as well as the installation of an intelligent semaphorization system in the Melide roundabout to improve the fluidity of traffic.
The subdelegate, who influenced the Government’s effort to put into service the two remaining sections of this motorway, which will offer a direct connection between the cities of Santiago and Lugo, highlighted the full collaboration with the Concello de Melide, with which she maintained a fluid communication so that the implementation of this infrastructure is a milestone in the transformation and improvement of traffic safety and the quality of life of the neighbors of Melide and the entire province.
