Nigrán, January 8, 2025.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited the lighthouse of Canido, which comes from being restored by the City of Nigrán to be used for recreational purposes for the benefit of the neighborhood. In the visit, in which he was accompanied by Mayor Juan González, and by members of the local government, he applauded the talent of the City of Nigrán and the councilor to attract European funds that allowed the recovery of the block from walking under this maritime infrastructure.
The lighthouse, which no longer serves navigation, was recovered after a complete comprehensive rehabilitation of 237,662 euros from a grant of 132,730 euros from the Ministry of Transport of the Public Buildings Rehabilitation Plan (local PIREP) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain (PRTR).
It was equipped with a continuous floor of polished concrete on insulation. Partitions, interior and exterior carpentry posts were installed and all interior and exterior installations were renovated. The flat roof was also replaced by a vegetable roof on one of the stretches. In addition, the renovated interior room is presided over by the decoration of a circular mural by the Viguese artist Ramón Trigo.
From now on, the Canido Lighthouse will host leisure activities aimed at the neighborhood throughout the year. It will be an inclusive and accessible space for all ages with a large multifunctional room to host the elderly and children and will also be able to host meetings of associations and activities such as the painting school. For everything you are, a calendar will be drawn up, second explained the mayor.
On the other hand, the deputy delegate of the Government highlighted the talent of the City of Nigrán to have obtained from the General Treasury of Social Security the ascription of the property of the former health center of this town to the City Council with a view to the allotment of a socio-community center for the elderly in the low walk and the headquarters of Civil Protection in the first walk. “We have other examples of municipalities that, incomprehensibly, seek to foster an absurd confrontation with Social Security and the result is that they do not achieve the one that the City of Nigrán achieved in a very short time,” he said.
