The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited the works of integral asphalt and replacement of containment barriers that the Ministry of Transport is carrying out in the N-541 as it passes through the municipal terms of Cerdigit-Cotobade and Forcarei, with an investment very close to one million euros.
Losada, who was accompanied on the visit by the captain of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, Antonio Piteira, highlighted the quality of these works, which represent a “further improvement within a plan of constant improvement” on the road that connects Pontevedra with the province of Ourense.
The subdelegate stressed that the section between the 68th and 69.8th kilometers is being completely asphalted, in the municipality of Cerdigit-Cotobade, with an investment of 475,499 euros VAT included. In parallel, the metallic barrier of containment between the kilometers 55.7 and 63.4 is being reinstated in the municipal terms of Forcarei and Cerpage-Cotobade, with the investment of another 464,944 euros, VAT included. In addition, specific actions will be carried out to strengthen the firm in the coming weeks.
These actions come to add to the million euros invested in recent months in the Pedre bridge, expanding the section of the viaduct, reinstating the containment systems and drainage and expanding the pedestrian walkways.
In addition, Losada recalled, the Ministry continues to process the project for the integral asphalt of the stretch that runs through the municipality of Forcarei, estimated at four million euros.
Finally, he recommended that, despite these continuous improvements in the road, it is necessary to travel prudently through the N-541, given that statistics from the General Directorate of Traffic reveal that 44% of accidents that occur on this road are due to collisions with wild animals that cross the road, well above the average of 26% in the whole road network of the province. A danger that is signposted throughout the route of the N-541.
