Ponte Caldelas, November 25, 2024.- The Government’s Deputy Delegate in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, presented this morning at the IES in Ponte Caldelas a new workshop of the Regueifas for Equality initiative, promoted by the Violence on Women Unit of the Government’s Subdelegation in Pontevedra and aimed at schoolchildren in the province. This action is part of the program of activities for the 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The event was attended by, in addition to the deputy delegate, the head of the Violence against Women Unit of the Subdelegation, María José Rodríguez; the mayor of Ponte Caldelas, Andrés Díaz; the inspector of Education, José María Alén; the director of the school, Iago García, and the deputy director, David Outón. In total, more than half a hundred students from the 2nd year of the ESO participated in this activity, taught by the artist Lupe Blanco, and learned the regueifar in letters that pay tribute to the commitment to full equality between women and men and the active rejection of any form of gender violence.
These workshops aim to raise awareness among young people in the fight against gender violence, promote equality and promote reflection on different topics related to male violence. After passing through the IES of Cambados, Valadares (Vigo) and Ponte Caldelas, on November 28 the IES Pintor Colmeiro de Silleda will host the last workshop of the program.
"At a time when speeches that deny the existence of male violence proliferate, this type of initiative is very important to raise awareness and sensitize young people, who are and must be active and fundamental agents of change," said the subdelegate, who explained that "the success of this activity has a lot to do with the fact that the improvised dialectic dispute fits very well with the type of music that young people listen to today, while offering the resources of the Galician language, our language, to disseminate ideas and concepts related to the permanent fight against male violence and in favor of full equality between women and men."
